What to do when you want to get a job in a big city but are unsure of where to start?

The Best Job Market in America.
According to a recent survey by CareerBuilder, the best jobs market for graduates in the U.S. is in Austin, Texas, where more than 85% of graduates have a job.
Austin has a relatively high proportion of graduates with at least some college degrees and an average income of $71,000, according to the survey.
It’s also a relatively affordable place to live with median home prices of $191,000 and a median household income of less than $100,000.2.
Austin’s Best College Graduates.
According the UB Survey of Colleges, the median salary for a bachelor’s degree is $61,000 in Austin and $53,000 nationally.
Austin and the surrounding area also have a number of universities that are ranked as among the top 10 colleges in the country.
The University of Texas at Austin ranks second in the nation, with an average graduate salary of $64,000 with the average starting salary of about $80,000 according to CareerBuilder.
The Dallas School of Business has a median starting salary that is more than $65,000 for its degree programs, according the survey, and the University of North Texas has the best student loan repayment rates in the state.3.
The Biggest City to Get a Job.
According a 2016 report by the Institute for Policy Studies, the top cities with the best job prospects for graduates are:New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia.
New York has the highest number of graduates (12,600) and the largest proportion of students (20%) with a degree (35%).
Austin is the only major U. S. city in the top 20 with a population greater than 100,000 that has a large proportion of its graduates working in the financial services industry.4.
Austin Is the Best City for a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
According CareerBuilder’s rankings of major employers in the United States, Austin is ranked fourth with a median salary of more than three times that of New York and second with a salary of roughly $78,000 compared to the national median of $40,000 ($65,832).5.
Austin is an Economic Boomtown.
Austin was one of the top four U.s. metro areas to experience the fastest growth in the last three years.
According an April 2018 report by Bloomberg, Austin grew at a rate of nearly 7% per year between 2011 and 2020, a period of more economic prosperity than the previous decade.6.
Austin, TX Has the Best Career Outlook for a Graduate in Finance in the Next 10 Years.
According Bloomberg, in 2020, Austin’s job prospects are good for the average graduate with a bachelor degree in finance with a total salary of nearly $75,000 a year, which is well above the national average of $41,000 per year.
The median annual salary is $65 the median income is $70,000 of which $50,000 is student loan debt.7.
