James A, who co-wrote the novelette, says he is delighted to be sharing his story with The New York Times, which has the first look at the first book of the series.
He says the story is about “two families, two different worlds, one of which is a little bit crazy and a little more serious than the other, and that makes for a lot of laughs.”
“It’s about a woman who is a psychic and the psychic family is a family of witches,” he adds.
“And the other family, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought, ‘Wow, this story could work, and I don’t want to be in the wrong house.'”
The story follows two sisters, Rosita and Maud, who travel the world to visit their grandmother, who is on the moon and wants to return to her family.
They find her dead in a cave on a desert island.
Rosita decides to visit her grandmother in another world, where she meets a woman named Gilda, who, as she discovers, is a witch.
They discover the story has been passed down from generation to generation.
They also find out that the witch is in fact an ancient Egyptian.
“It has a little darker, a little less lighthearted side,” he explains.
“But it’s a really touching story, and a wonderful one, too.”
Micheners debut novel, The Book Weave, was published in 2018.
Michens first book was The New Earth, published in 2011.
